What Are Instincts?

Instincts are validated behavioral patterns that Tempreon has learned from observing how you work. They're not guesses — each Instinct is backed by multiple observations and progresses through a lifecycle before being applied to your sessions.

Instinct Types

Every Instinct falls into one of three categories:

Style Instincts

How you communicate. Tone, formatting, word choice, structure preferences.

Examples:

• "Uses short paragraphs — rarely more than 3 sentences"
• "Never uses emoji in business contexts"
• "Prefers numbered lists for action items, bullets for descriptions"

Process Instincts

How you work. Workflow patterns, approach habits, tool preferences.

Examples:

• "Reviews the current state before proposing changes"
• "Prefers a single comprehensive recommendation over multiple options"
• "Always asks 'what's the simplest approach?' before expanding scope"

Judgment Instincts

How you decide. Trade-offs, priorities, evaluation criteria.

Examples:

• "Prioritizes speed over perfection for internal documents"
• "Always considers the cost of being wrong before committing"
• "Values data-backed recommendations over intuition-based ones"

The Instinct Lifecycle

Each Instinct moves through stages:

State	What It Means
Detected	Pattern first noticed — low confidence, needs more evidence
Validated	Multiple observations confirm the pattern
Active	Fully validated and applied to your sessions
Contested	Conflicting signals detected — under review

The dashboard shows the current state and confidence percentage for each Instinct.

Using the Dashboard

Browse and Filter

• Filter by type — See only Style, Process, or Judgment Instincts
• Filter by lifecycle — Focus on Active, Validated, Detected, or Contested
• Search by description — Find specific patterns

View Evidence

Click any Instinct to expand it and see the supporting observations — the specific behaviors that led Tempreon to detect this pattern. This is full transparency: you can see exactly why the system believes this about you.

Delete an Instinct

If an Instinct is wrong, you can delete it directly from the dashboard. You can also correct it through conversation — just tell your AI the pattern is wrong and explain the correction.

Use Case: Seeing What Your AI Has Learned

Mark is a startup advisor who was curious about what Tempreon had picked up after three months of use. He opened the Instincts Dashboard and found 47 validated patterns. Some were obvious (he knew he preferred structured formats), but others were surprisingly accurate observations he'd never articulated — like "consistently deprioritizes aesthetic polish in favor of functional completeness" and "breaks tie decisions by asking 'which option is more reversible?'" Seeing these patterns made him more intentional about what he wanted his AI to learn next.
