How do I authorize Tempreon in the Gemini app — do I need to enter any keys?

Overview

The Gemini app supports custom MCP servers through its Custom apps feature (rolled out starting June 29, 2026), which lets you add Tempreon by URL on gemini.google.com, so Gemini can load your Core Imprint, search your knowledge, and remember what it learns while it works for you.

Quick path: gemini.google.com → Settings → Connected Apps → Custom apps → Add a custom app → paste the Tempreon URL → authorize. If Connected Apps isn't listed under Settings, open Personal Intelligence first — Google now nests it there.

Availability note (as of September 2026): Google lists custom apps as needing a personal Google account (not work or school), an age of 18 or over, a US location, English, and "Keep Activity" turned on. Google's custom-apps page lists no subscription. Gemini Spark is listed separately and does require a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, so a custom app driving a Spark workflow needs that part. The two requirement lists have drifted apart: Spark now runs wherever Gemini Apps are supported except the EEA, Nigeria, Switzerland and the UK, and in all Gemini Apps languages, while custom apps still read US and English — so Spark reaching your region doesn't mean custom apps have. If you don't see the option, work down this list first. If Gemini isn't an option for you today, the same Google models are available with full Tempreon support in Google Antigravity — generally available, with a free tier.

Prerequisites

A Google account that meets Google's custom-apps requirements: personal (not work or school), 18 or over, in the US, English, with Keep Activity on. Step-by-Step Setup

1. Open Connected Apps

On a computer, go to gemini.google.com
At the bottom, click Settings
Click Connected Apps. If you don't see it there, click Personal Intelligence first, then Connected Apps.

2. Add Tempreon as a custom app

Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app
Enter the Tempreon MCP server URL:

Click Next — you don't need to open "Advanced features" or enter any credentials. Tempreon supports automatic client registration, so Gemini configures itself.

3. Authorize the connection

4. Use it in Gemini

Give Gemini a task that touches your context — it can now call Tempreon's tools as it works. Once connected on the web, the custom app is available in the Gemini mobile apps as well.

Troubleshooting

You don't see "Connected Apps" or "Custom apps". First check under Personal Intelligence — Google nests Connected Apps there in some builds. If it's still not there, work down Google's listed requirements for custom apps: a personal account (not work or school), 18 or over, in the US, English, and Keep Activity on. Google lists no subscription for custom apps themselves. Some accounts that meet every listed requirement still don't show a Custom apps section yet, and Google doesn't document why; nothing is wrong on the Tempreon side. The connection fails immediately. Check the URL ends in /mcp with no trailing slash.

Authorization succeeded but nothing happens. Confirm "Keep Activity" is on in your Google account settings — custom apps are unavailable when it is off.

You're signed in with a work or school account. Custom apps are for personal Google accounts. Gemini Enterprise Business edition has its own route for MCP servers, set up by a team administrator and not yet generally available, but it asks for an OAuth client ID and secret issued in advance. Tempreon connects through automatic client registration instead, so that route doesn't fit Tempreon yet. If your organization has Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licenses, Gemini CLI connects to Tempreon today.
